SETTLEMENT NOT LIKELY MILITARY DOMINATION OPPOSED. (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, .September 23. The Geneva conespondent of “The Times” says: “The Italian counterclaims also included a demand for separation of the non-Amharjc territories in Abyssinia from Amharic, placing them under Italian control. The prospect of a settlement appears to have vanished), for the proposals go far beyond anything Abyssinia would freely
accept. Moreover, they cannot lie reconciled with the principles of the League Covenant, the rights of Abyssinia as a League member and are practically a repetition of Italy’s demands since the beginning of the dispute. If enforced, they would moan Italian domination, which the League Council, especially Britain, regards as unacceptable in any circumstances.
