POPULAR ASSISTANT CONTEST.
THE SECOND LAP RESULTS. -
Evidence of the popularity ot tlie popular assistant contest being conducted by the Sports Section of the Labour Day Gala Committee is not wanting. The contest has been in vogue for two weeks, and a lftlge number of tickets have sold. The scrutineers find their time fully occupied each Saturday in the^ counting of votes handed in. The leading candidates in the second lap are Misses R, Gibson (Railway Girls), T. Anderson (Beath’s), and L. Makinson (J. B. Nicoll), with 17 others running close up in the number of votes cast. The contest will continue over another five weeks. The winner of the aggregate will he the guest of the Sports Section at the Gala, and she will receive presentations appropriate to the occasion. The third lap will close at noon next Saturday.
