THE WEATHER
A PLEASANT WEEK-END. The weather in Ashburton during the week-end was pleasant and sunny. The temperature cn Saturday reached 54 degrees, and yesterday the peak was 56.1 degrees. The minimum readings on Saturday and Sunday nights were 33.7 degrees and 29.5 degrees respectively. There was a frost of 2.8 degrees yesterday and one of 5.5 degrees this morning. The barometer read 30.01 inches yesterday morning, and stood at 30.22 inches this morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: An intense anticyclone covers New Zealand, the centre being off the East C'oast. A cyclone is located north-west of Cape Maria van Diemen. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — Moderate north-easterly to easterly winds, freshening somewhat. Weather fine, and haze increasing. Seas moderate, east swell.
