CRICKET.
THE FAIRFIELD CLUB. The annual meeting of the Fairfield Cricket Club was held on Wednesday in the Fairton Hall. The president (Mr ,]. Willis) presided over an attendance of about 20 members.
' The president referred to the success of the club last season, when the senior team won its grade, winning the Studholme Shield, and also to its success in annexing the Bristol Cup from Timaru.
The balance-sheet showed the club to be in a. fairly healthy position. The following officers were elected: —
Patron, Mr D. J. Shea; president, Mr J. Willis; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Connolly, M.P., W. Birme, Chapman Bros., H. Anderson, D. Fitzgerald, D. Robertson, W. Robinson, W. Phelan, J. H. Cirigg, C. Perkins, F. Fox, C. Kennedy, R. Baird.; secretary, Mr J. R. Baird; treasurer, Mr J. Willis; delegates to the Association, Messrs R. Drennan and S. Willis; club captain, Mr W .F. O’Grady; committee, Messrs J. Price, P. Willis, G. Willis, and the captains of the senior and junior teams; custodians, Messrs G. Willis and J. Baird; auditor, Mr F. C.
Startup. The opening day was set from October o, when a Single v. Married match, will be played.
UNUSUAL BOWLING FEAT SEVEN BALLS SEVEN WICKETS A remarkable cricket feat was accomplished in a match at Windsor in July 10. Playing for Windsor Gas Sports Club against Windsor Juniors, F. G. Hibbert took seven wickets with successive balls —all clean bowled. Windsor Juniors scored three! Hibbert took eight wickets for two runs. Albert Trott did the double hat trick in Ins own behalf against Middlesex against Somerset at Lord’s in 1907. But they were in two “breaks” at different stages of the second innings—four consecutive wickets and three running later.
