LUCKY ARCTIC KING.

ART UNION COINCIDENCE. A rather remarkable sequence of coincidence .surrounded the drawing of the 1 ‘Happy Thought” art union in Wellington recently. Only two of the prizes actually drawn for came to the district, but the two lucky ticket-hold-ers were not only residents of Trentham, but they are uniquely linked through the nom do plume chosen by one of them.

The eighth prize; of £4O went to “Arctic King,” Wellington, ana the tenth prize of £2O to “Luck To-day,” Mr D. Bush, Trentham. The unusual becomes apparent when it is mentioned that Mr D. Bush is no other than the hurdle jockey Darrell Bush, who is head lad in the Arctic King stable at Trentham. The lucky gentleman who used the name of “Arctic King” is understood to be Mr E. Tunnell, also of Trentham (says the “Wellington Post”).

Bush has been well favoured recently by the goddess of fortune. Receiving lii.s first opportunity to ride only during the winter, he gained his initial success on Trishna at the Grand National meeting last month, and so impressed was Trishna’s owner (Mr G. Paul) with his courageous handling of the horse that he has sent for him to go south this month to ride for him again at the Ashburton and Geraldine meetings. In addition to these turns of fortune, Bush received the Royal Humane Society’s certificate for conspicuous bravery at a special function at Trentham on September 7.
