FRUIT INSPECTION
DESIRE FOR BETTER QUALITY. WELLINGTON, Sept. 13. The fruit growers’ conference carried a Marlborough remit expressing the view that as the quantity oj? good grade fruit was increasing, fruit below a reasonable standard should not be sold for human consumption. Remits were also carried asking for a more strongent inspection ot fruit and more care in handling soft fruits. A motion was carried approving of the setting up of a committee representative of the federation, the Fruit Board, and the Horticulture Division, in association with the Executive commission of Agriculture, to give effect, where possible and desirable, to the findings of the conference and other matters affecting the industry, especially local marketing of fruit, local marketing control not to lie a matter for the committee.
