The Marton Jockey Club’s spring meeting was held to-day in beautiful weather. The track was 411 good order. The totalisator handled £5887 10s, against £5106 10s last year. The judicial committee considered a complaint from the starter about L. Clifford, who rode Pukepara in the maiden race, and fell off at the start, for misbehaviour at the post. He was severely reprimanded by the committee. An inquiry was also held into the falling of two horses. Fleeting Arrow and Ringapoto, in the maiden race, after hearing evidence, the committee decided that the occurrence was accidental. Concluding results: —

Time, 1.54. This was a newly-added programme to the Canterbury programme. Canterbury Stakes, of 500 sovs; weight-f or-age; six furlongs—Bulldozer 8.0 (A. Knox) 1, Kuvera. 9.2 2, The Raider 8.11 3. Won by two lengths and a half; a length and a half between second and third. Dual Ratio was second in the second division of the Park Stakes, in which there were 17 starters, including Debham.

Saecula and Fuljoy were unplaced in the Flying Handicap; Forestry and Cockpen were unplaced in the September Handicap, and Legatee was unplaced in the Ashbury Handicap.

A feature of the racing at Caulfield yesterday was the success of three New’ Zealand jockeys, Webster, Jenkins and Voitre, all of whom are doing well in Victoria.

MEETING AT CAULFIELD. MELBOURNE, September 7. At the Victoria Amateur Turf Club’s meeting to-day results were : Memsio Stakes, of 1000 sovs; weight-for-age; one mile and a furlong—Hall Mark 9.11 (T. Webster) 1, Feldspar 7.9 2, Spartan 8.7 3. All started. Young Idea was second to last. Won by a length ; half a head between second and third. Time, 1.521. When. Hall Mark and Feldspar entered the straight Hall Mark attempted to savage Feldspar, w r ho immediately turned on the former, taking a couple of snaps at him. When Feldspar made a second attack on Hall Mark, Voitre had practically to stop riding him to pull him away. The spectacle was without precedent in Australian racing of recent years. LATE ADAM SKIRVING Adam Skirving, whose death was announced from Melbourne a couple of days ago, was a. New Zealnader by birth. In his early twenties he was attached to E. Outt’s stable at Riccarton, but he removed to Victoria, where for the last thirty years he has held the position of private trainer to the Melbourne doctor who races under the assumed name of “Mr A. S. Rawdon.” He had charge of a large breeding and training establishment at Dandenong, where he turned out many good winners, including Blague (Newmarket Handicap), Broadsword, purchased from the late Sir George Clifford (Doncaster Handicap and Adelaide Birthday Cup), and Waterline, another New Zealander, and who brought about the defeat of Phar Lap in the Cl. M. Lloyd Stakes.
