MR T. D. BURNETT
ASKED NOT TO RETIRE.
REQUEST FROM SUPPORTERS,
DECISION MAY BE RECONSIDERED.

Mr T. D. Burnett (Coalition member for Ternuka), who recently announced his decision to retire from politics at the end of the present session of Parliament, has been pressed by his supporters to reconsider his position and to stand again at the general election.
The representations made to him have been so strong that Mr Burnett is giving them very serious consideration. In the oireumstanoes it is thought likely that Mr Burnett will again be a candidate, but he could make no definite announcement to that effect to-day.

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. j In the event of Mr Burnett retiring, ■ it was stated to-day, there was a pos- j sibility that Mr Leicester Webb, or t Christchurch, would seek election. , When approached in this matter, Mr j Webb made the non-committal reply that he had nothing to say. It has also been said that Mr A. J. Davey, a farmer, of Waitohi, and Mr C. J. Talbot, of Fairlie, may be agreeable to nomination.
