MANUFACTURERS MEET

RESOLUTIONS OF COUNCIL.

(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, August 29.

Members of the council of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation today decided to communicate to the Government their opinion that, if conditions permitted any reduction of taxation this year priority should be given to the abolition of the primage duty on all goods imported from the United Kingdom.

The proposed Commercial Trusts Amendment Bill was considered, and at the conclusion of the meeting it was stated that the Dominion manufacturers appeared to be almost unanimous in supporting the measure,. and the council had placed on record its hope that the House would pass it during this session.

The view was expressed that the Government should adjust the incidence of unemployment taxation in such, a way as to ease the burden on lowerpaid workers.
