MISS MONA McLEOD LEADS. MELBOURNE, August 28. Putting with great accuracy, Miss Mona McLeod (Victoria) led the field to-day in the first qualifying round of the women’s open golf championshipSlie went round in 19 and took one putt on each of six greens. IN FINAL

ADELAIDE, August 28. In the semi-finals of the ama.teur qnd professional golf championships, results were:— Amateurs. J. Ferrier (N.S.W.) beat W. Rymill (South Australia), 7 and 6. H. W. Hattersiey (N.S.W.) beat R. D. Crook (South Australia), at the thirty-seventh. Ferrier was in great form. His bt in the morning was two better than the course record, and six under par. In the afternoon he reached the ninth hole in 83. It was the first time the 27 holes had been done in ICO in an Australian open championship. Professionals. V S. Richardson (N.S.W.) beat W. McMahon (South Australia), 4 and 2. H. Boorer (Victoria) beat W. Bolger (N.S.W.), 5 and 4. . . McMahon is open champion, and Bolger was open champion last year.
