DIAMOND WEDDING

MR AND MRS LADBROOK. The diamond wedding of Mr and Mrs George Ladbrook was celebrated recently at Hastings. Mr and Mrs Ladbrook were married in Christchurch in July, 1875. Mr Ladbrook’s father was one of the early farmers in Canterbury, the Ladbrooks district being named after him. Mrs Ladbrook is in her 79th year and Mr Ladbrook in Ins 86th year. ‘ . Mr Ladbrook was bom in Auckland, and his wife in Launceston, Tasmania, her maiden name being Sycamore. After their marriage Mr and! Mrs Ladbrook lived in Ladbrooks for three years, moving to Ashburton, and a-ftei a few years’ residoncte there they went to Southland, where they resided until 1914. Then they moved to Taranaki, and after being there a year or two, went to Hastings, where they have since lived. Mr and Mrs Ladbrook’s nine children were all present at the anniversary celebrations, which were also in honour of Mr and Mrs fe. Ladbrook, who were married at Rotorua the previous evening and were guests at the party. There are 34 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
