Mainly because about 1000 electors failed to notify the Registrar of their change of address or to ans Aver notices sent out to them, tlie main roll for Mid-Canterbury for use at the general Parliamentary Election, Avhich is to be held toward the end of tliisi year, has closed with 956 feAver names than Avere on the main roll at the last election four years ago. The total on the list is 9291, com* pared Avitli 10,247 in 1931 and 9379 in 1928. A supplementary roll Avill be opened to take further names, and this Avill close some Aveeks before the election takes place. The last supplementary roll contained 875 names. For several weeks past the overhaul of the roll has been in progress, and a vast amount of work has been entailed in making a thorough check of the names. This is the most extensive scrutiny that has been gi\ r en to a roll of electors. The printing of the main roll has already been put in hand.
