TO BE SENTENCED
TWO MEN GUILTY OF BURGLARY SAFE-BLOWING IN A DRAPER’S. SEQUEL TO SENSATIONAL CHASE. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, - This Day. A verdict of guilty was returned in the Supreme Court to-day against Albert William Gauntlett and Ralph Crosby, alias Trevor Foote, on a charge of breaking and entering the shop of Hay’s, Ltd!., and committing the theft of £479.
The trial was the sequel to the safeblowing at Hay’s Ltd., on June 15, and the subsequent sensational dash by detectives Halcrow and Herron to Picton, where the accused men were arrested the morning after the burglary. They then had over £370 in their possession.
Both men were remanded for sentence.
