SPRINTS AT RICCARTON

The parade of young horses at Riccarton yesterday 'was a pronounced success, in spite of the uninviting conditions, all the entrants, with two exceptions, were produced, and the four divisions provideu much interest. As in most juvenile parades, although decided under race conditions, there was no serious competition for place honours, but the form shown by many of the participants was interesting, in view of their racing next season. Mr J. Bridges was starter, and dispatched the four fields on even terms.

The following are the results of the sprints:—

TROTTING SIRES’ PRODUCE • STAKES. CONDITIONS OF RACE ALTERED. TIMARU, July 30. The committee of the Timaru Trotting Club decided to-night to amend the conditions of its three-year-old race for trotters. The nomination of sires was deleted, and it was decided to name the race the New Zealand Trotting Stakes, for three-year-old unhoppled trotters, the stake to- be £450, with no premium for the she of the winner.AUSTRALIAN HURDLE RACE.
