BOULDER ON RAILWAY
I DELIBERATE ACT IN NORTH. WELLINGTON, July 29. A boulder placed on the railway line just north of Feilding yesterday might have derailed the railcar in which Mr G. H. Mackley (General Manager of Railways) was travelling from Auckland to Wellington. The rock, which measured 12 inches by 12 inches and weighed 371 b, was pushed aside hv a wheel of the car without damage to the vehicle, which was travelling at a good speed. The boulder must have been placed on the line. It could not have rolled there, as the only boulders of anything approaching similar size in the vicinity arc in the bed of a stream several feet below.
