Thirteen competitors faced the starter in the “Wheelbarrow Derby,” which started this morning from Onehunga to Auckland. There was a compulsory stop at Newmarket, and the race ended at a Queen Street theatre this afternoon.

Lou ,Brown, a well-known League footballer, upset the promoters’ calculations by covering the six miles to Newmarket in one hour exactly. He jog-trotted nearly all the way.
