ENGLAND BLAMED
THE RIOTING IN ULSTER. DE VALERA’S WORDS IN DAIL. (United Press Association —Copyright) DUBLIN, July 25. “Religion is being used to cloak mean, shabby things,” said Mr de Valera in the Dail, referring to, “unfortunate happenings in another part of the country,” He added that the citizens of Ireland were only too anxious to live in peace and friendship. “The foreign Power which created this situation by refusing to allow the people to settle their own differences cannot escape responsibility,” he said. “I deplore the Free State reprisals. The Government will see, as far as possible, that the guilty who shamed the Free State are treated to the full vigour of the law.” He hoped that the misguided people of Ulster realised' that they were being exploited politically, and that' the Irishmen’s ideal of living together as Irishman in their own land would soon he fulfilled.
