LONDON WOOL SALES CLOSE.
PRICES IN SELLERS’ FAVOUR. (United Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Bay, 9.25 a.m.) v LONBON, July 25. The wool sales have closed. In all, 7704 bales were offered, including 2434 New Zealand, and about 4414 Australian and New Zealand were sold. New Zealand slipe halfbred lambs’, Feilding, brought up to 13d, with an average of 10|d. After a setback toward the end of the second week the demand widened and closed firm, prices tending in sellers’ favour. Compared with May closing rates, merinos, greasy warp chartei*, was 10 per cent, higher, purely Continental styles top-making fleeces 5 to 7\, scoureds fine bulky 5, broader styles 5, inferior faulty par to 5, crossbreds fine medium (helped by recent Russian support) 10 to 15, slipes 7\. The total catalogued was 120,164 bales. Sold: Home 59,000, Continent 40,500, held over 72,000. The total sales of Australian were 45,000 and New Zealand 45,000. At Bradford merinos are easier and erossbreds firm. Quotations are: Seventies, 32d; 64’s, 30d; 60’s, 29d; 56’s, 20d; 50’s, 15d; 46’s, 12*d; 40’s, lOfd.
PIGS AND POULTRY.
THE ASHBURTON MARKET. Prices realised at the sales of pigs and poultry held in Ashburton to-day were: — Pigs—-Porkers, 26s to 28s; stores, 13s to 24s 6d; weahers and slips, 13s to 16s. Poultry—Hens, Is 4d to 2s 8d; roosters, 3s 7d to 4s 4d; turkeys, 12s. HORSE FAIR PRICES. Values at the horse fair conducted by the Ashburton branch of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd., this afternoon were:— Mares—Aged, £4 10s, £5 and £2l. Geldings—Aged, £6, £2O and £2l; seven years, £34 10s.
