SERIOUS CHARGE
ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER. POISON IN BOX OF CHOCOLATES. YOUNG WOMAN! BEFORE COURT. (Per Px-ess Association). NAPIER, This Bay. Phyllis Tui Marshall, of Tikakino, agedi 18, was charged at the Police'Court to-day/ with having attempted to murder Alma ‘Lorraine Keith, of Hastings by sending to her a box of chocolates allegedly containing arsenic. Evidence was given by Miss Keith, of the receipt of a parcel and handing it to the police. A note signed “J,” accompanied the parcel and this was like the handwriting of J. Masters, with whom witness was friendly. Masters was present- when the chocolates were opened and denied sending them. William Bonovan (Government Analyst) said he examined the chocolates, which contained arsenic. Powders submitted to him also contained arsenic.
