ON THE RANGE.
COUNTY MINIATURE CLUBS. (By “Marker.”) The match Rakaia v. Methven, for the Ashburton County Miniature Rifle Shield, fired at Rakaia on Friday evening, proved a very interesting and even contest. Half-way through the match the scores were: Rakaia 810, Methven BOS. ’When nine men had fired, with the three lowest scores counted out, the scores were: Rakaia 466, Methven 464, and the final scores were, Methven 623, Rakaia 620.
At the conclusion of the match Mr A. J. Millichamp (president of the Ashburton Association) congratulated the Methven Club on its win, and presented the shield to Dir J. It. Carr (captain of the Methven Club). .Mi H. Cromie (captain of the Rakaia Club) also congratulated the Methven team on its successful shoot. The next match for the shield will he fired by the Doric Club at Methven, and must lie completed by August 3. The 'Lynnford Club has issued a challenge for the shield.
