SCHOOL JUBILEE

THE HAMPSTEAD COMMITTEE. PREPARING THE CELEBRATION. EX-PUPILS’ ENTHUSIASTIC. A meeting of the Hampstead (now Ashburton East) School Jubilee Com mittee was held in the Memorial Hall last evening, Mr F. Pritchard presiding. It was decided to ask the Broadcasting Board to announce that the jubilee would ](£ held next Easter, and to request old pupils to forward their names and addresses to the secretary. It was also decided to insert advertisements in the principal papers throughout New Zealand next month. Mrs Keeley, on behalf of the Entertainment Committee, reported that a very successful children’s dance had been held recently hut the ne.t proceeds did not amount to very much. A social to he held in the Hampstead Memorial Hall had been arranged for next Tuesday by Mr H. J. Chapman, and from the sale of the tickets, a very successful function was assured. Authority to conduct several 'competitions was granted, and two supporters were thanked for promised donations.

It was left to the executive to draw up a suitable circular to be posted to old pupils. The chairman announced that the next meeting would be held on August 21, and stated that lie felt confident from the enthusiasm shown by those present, that the jubilee celebrations would prove an unqualified success.
