MINIATURE RIFLES.
THE ASHBURTON CLUB. The fortnightly trophy shoot of the Ashburton Miniature Rifle Club was concluded last evening. The trophy was won by H. Hickman, and the Hetty Button was won by L. McNatty. The scores were: W. Sotham (16) 77, 77, 74, 76, H. Healey (20) 69, 70, 74, 72, R. Watson (15) 75, 76, 77, 79, H. Hickman (15) 77, 6, 77, 78, F. Porter (8) 78, 76, 75, 77, R. B-ramley (10, 77, ,75, 78, 74, L. McNatty (8), 77, 79, 79, 78, T. F. Smith (6) 76, 76, 78, 76, R, Childs (16) 77, 77, 76, 75, G. Lusk (8) 78, 73 ? 74, 79. The sam.e evening a two-shoot match of eight men was fired with the Hinds Club, and after an interesting slioot the local club ran out winners by one point. Scores were:— Ashburton —L. At the weekly shoot of the Willowby Miniature Rifle Club, which was held on Monday evening, the Hotty Button was won by R. Mac Kay. . The shoot for the trophy presented by Mi' G. Bowman was concluded and was won by B. Merrin. The following were the best scores: L. Pratley (11) 151 (54) 71, D. MacKay (12) 151 (6) 76 (3-4) 77, 77, 75; N. Maginncss (9) 151 #4) 74: T. Whearty (10) 147; J. Arnst (12) 141; R. Mac Kay (9) 155 (4-4) 74; B- Mornn (18) 144 (9) 72' (7) 74, 73, 72; T. Mac Kay (5) 154. THE HINDS CLUB. The weekly shoot of the Hinds Miniature Rifle -Club was -held on Monday niglit. A trophy presented by Mr W. Clark was won by A. Sim who scored 77 (4), 78 (2),78. F. Rickard 'was runner-up, 76 (4), 77 (3), 1 3. The hotty button also! went to A. Sim, scoring 77. The following were the scores: —A. Sim 77, IV. Holland 76, R-. McKeage 76, F. Rickard 76, H. Watson 75, R. Reddecliffe 75, R. McElhinney 73, G. Bagrie 73, D. Watson 72, M. Williams 71 jt was decided at a meeting to hold a hall on Thursday, August 15, and a committee was set up to arrange matters.
