STEAMERS COLLIDE
BOTH SUSTAIN SOME DAMAGE. ACCIDENT IN DENSE FOG. (United Press Association—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, July 23. The steamships Calmar and Koryu Maru collided ten miles south of fean Francisco lightship at 9.2 p.m. (Pacific standard time). Twenty minutes later the crew of the Calmar reported that they were talcing to the lifeboats. The Koryu Maru was apparently in no danger. The Calmar was bound from San Francisco for east coast ports, and the Koryu Maru was bound from Yokohama. ONE SHIP TOWED INTO PORT. OTHER UNDER HER OWN STEAM. (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, July 24. • With a hole 20 feet deep amidships on the .starboard side, the Calmar was towed here by the Coastguard cutter Shawnee and two tugs. The Koryu Maru followed under her own steam, appearing badly stove-in about the bow. The collision occurred in a 1 dense fog. Both crows remained aboard their vessels.
