OUTPUT OF BUTTER
FALL IN TOTAL SHOWS DECREASE. The fall in the output of dairy produce in New Zealand this season was again checked slightly last month, when gradings of butter for exports were higher than in June, 193-1, although less cheese was graded. The output for the 11 months of the current season ended) June shows a reduction of 5.5 per cent., compared with the previous season. On the same basis, the butter-fat yield calculated on export gradings of produce, the fall to the end < of May was 5.8 per cent, and to the end of March over 8 per cent. A comparison of grading returns to the end of June is as follows:
Total tons 90,988 101,427 In view of the slightly higher production of butter-fat this winter it is probable that the output to the end of the current season, July 31, will ho about 5 per cent, lower than in the previous season.
