NEW CHAIRMAN
THE HIGH SCHOOL BOARD. DR. G. I. MILLER ELECTED. TRIBUTE TO MR BOWDEN. Dr. G. I. Miller was this morning elected chairman of the Ashburton High School Board of Governors, taking the place of Mr J. AY. Bowden who after 11 years as chairman, did not seek re-election.
Dr. Miller is an ex-pupil of the school and has been president of the Old Pupils’ Association. His father, the Rev. George Miller, was chairman of the Board for a number of years. The nomination of Dr. Miller was made by Mr Bowden and Mr E. H. Orr. Members paid a tribute to the excellent work Mr Bowden had done for the school and the Board’s thanks were recorded on the minutes.
