CHOCOLATE CASE
EVIDENCE OF TAMPERING. BOX SENT THROUGH POST. RUMOURS RIFE IN BLENHEIM. (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, This Day. Rumours are in circulation that another poisoned chocolate case developed at Springlands, a suburb of Blenheim, last week. The police are extremely reticent, but it is known that Detective Sinclair, of Nelson, and local officers have been pursuing inquiries for some day's. It is stated that a resident of iSpringlands received a box of chocolates, and investigations showed that they had been tampered with, but fortunately, as a result of publicity given to recent cases elsewhere, none of the sweets were consumed.
Sergeant Smythe, who is in charge of the local police station, when pressed for information, said he preferred to say nothing.
