HEAVY RAIN CONTINUES.
OVER SIX INCHES IN TWO DAYS. DISLOCATION OF TRAFFIC. ROADS AND RAILWAYS' BLOCKED (Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, This Day. Continued heavy rain, amounting to over six inches in the last 48 hours, has accentuated the dislocation of traffic between Whangarei and Auckland.
Communication by road and rail is completely cut off and this position is likely to obtain for several days. An inundation, varying in depth up to six feet, is covering the track for a distance of live miles between Wagby and Hotes, with a 300-yard slip lat the latter place causing an indefinite hold-up in railway connection. Slips in Dome Valley prevent travel on the main highway. No serious trouble is reported from districts in the far north.
