(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This pay. The Government Meteorologist, _at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : General inference: A fairly intense anticyclone is centred east of the South Island while a shallow depression covers the western Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather fine and mild. Seas' smooth to moderate.
