THE MEN'S SUB-ASSOCIATION. JUBILEE FIVE-A-SIDE TOURNEY. The management committee of the Mid-Canterbury Men's Hockey SubAssociation met last evening, the president (Mr E. M. Gabites) presiding. An invitation from the Malvern Men's Hockey Sub-Association to send two teams to play Malvern at Greendale on May 25 was accepted. It was decided, as the sub-associa-tion's contribution to the King's jubilee arrangements, to hold a five-a-side Yankee tournament next Monday, entries to close on Saturday. It was regretted that only one entry had been received in the junior competition, and it was decided to delay the opening of that grade until June 1, and to accept entries up to May 30. It was decided to purchase representative jerseys, the matter of colours and'price being left in the hands of the president and secretary (Mr S. M. Oassidy) with power to act. All clubs notified their willingness to pay a proportional share* of the cost of lighting the Domain grounds, and this matter was left to Mr H. Funge to finalise. It was decided to apply to the Canterbury Hockey Association for a ruling on Rule 64, which deals with, grounds and postponements.

METHVEN LADIES' CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Methven Ladies' Hockey Club was held on Monday evening. Mrs G. Johns presided, and there were also present: Mesdames W. J. Owen, G. R. Cleeve, H. G. Ayers," A, G. Carr and G. King, Misses M. Cretney, M. Ayers, I. Cretney, and Messrs G. Johns and W. JOwen. Correspondence was received from the Harewood Men's, Hockey Club accepting the club's invitation far a match at Methven next Monday. The Kiwi Hockey Club, Christchurch, advised that it would send a senior B and junior team to Methven on Monday. Mr J. Connolly, M.P., forwarded a donation, and wished the club a successful season.

Final arrangements were made for the entertainment of the visiting teams and also for the dance to be held in the Town Hall in the evening.
