ATHLETICS.
THE HINDS CLUB The Hinds Amateur Athletic Cltfb met on Saturday night. The president (Mr B. Annett) and the secretary Mr D. McDonald) gave a report upon the sports gathering held on April 6. Mr Annett thanked the committee and officials for their work during the year. A letter of thanks was received from the Plunket Society for the use of the grounds. As the cycling events resulted in a tie, it was decided to donate two miniature cups. The secretary reported that two cycling, one ladies’, one club members’ and one officials’ races were run as extras this year. The expenditure this year was heavier than last year owing to the extra advertising to combat the counter-attractions in the County and in subsidising conveyance of competitors to the sports. The statement for 1935 was on a par with that of 1934, which was £2l.
The secretary reported that the sideshows were not successful. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on May 28.
