AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB MASTER. BRIERLY WINS PLATE. (United Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, April 27. Delightful weather favoured the conclusion of the Australian Jockey Club s autumn carnival at Randwick to-day, and the track was in splendid order. There was an attendance of 26,UU6. The club reports it the best meeting since 1929. It was notable for the number of closely-fought finishes, which is an indication of the skilful work of the handicapper. Silver Jubilee ran prominently m the early part of the Rous Handicap, but suffered interference at the Leger and appeared! to lack dash after that. Master Brierly, running at the tail of the field until the straight entrance was reached, then unwound a brilliant finishing run to annex the major prize in the Australian Jockey Club Plate by two lengths. Gold Trail, after leading most of the journey, faded in the final furlong. Master Brierly s time has been bettered only once in the history of the race, when Phar Lap established an Australian and New Zealand record in 1930.
