Thirty-seven Gat peasants were* killed and a large number seriously wounded in a clash with police in the village of Kadan, in Rajputana State. The police opened fire. The official and several police were hurt.

Over 100 rioters have been arrested. The situation at present is tense. State troopers are patrolling the district. '
