THE MAYFIELD CLUB. HANDICAP SINGLES. The Mayfield Tennis -Club held a singles handicap tournament last Saturday afternoon. The results were: Women's Singles. First round—Miss J. Duff (-10) beat Mrs G. Cartwright (scr), 2-16; Mrs J. Cairns (-20) beat Miss P. Anderson (scr), 22-10; Mrs D. Elms (-5) beat Mrs G. Meikle (-10), 21-11; Miss N. lyey (-10) beat Miss K. Sowden by default; Miss M. Riley (-20) beat Miss L. Robertson (-15 J), 22-20; Miss J. Rose (-5), a bye. Second round—Miss J. Duff beat Mrs J. Cairns, 21-15; Mrs D. Elms beat Miss N. Ivey, 21-9; Miss J. Rose, beat Miss M. Riley, 2-16. Third round—Miss J. Duff beat Mrs D. Elms, 21-18; Miss J. Rose,-a bye. Final—Miss J. Rose beat Miss J. Duff, 21-16.

THE MAYFIELD CLUB. A tennis handicap tournament held on the Mayfield courts was concluded on Wednesday. In the final of the women's section Miss Rose 21 beat Miss J. Duff 16, and in the men's section R. J. Doonan 21 beat G. A. Meikle 11. DAVIS CUP CONTEST. AUSTRALIA'S GREAT HOPES. NEW YORK, April 25. Mr Norman Brooks (president of the Australian Lawn Tennis Association), on arrival here, said that Australia would win the Davis Cup with men like J. H. Crawford and V. G. McGrath. Crawford was playing the best tennis of his career. MINES BEATS PALMIER!. ROME, April 25. In the final of the men's singles at the Italian lawn tennis championship tournament Hines defeated Palmieri, 6-3, 10-8, 9-7.
