TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From "Guardian," April 27, 191,0.) / Pig-Raising Neglected. Speaking to one of our reporters the other day, a farmer said ho failed to understand why pig-raising had been so much neglected of late in the Ashburton County. He could remember the time when considerably over 9000 pigs, at over £2 each, were annually sent out of the district. He was of opinion that it would be a good business speculation to establish a central factory company for the purpose of purchasing porkers (say) up to 901bs in weight. ' t ■ Hospital Expenditure.—The estimated expenditure of the Ashburton Hospital and Charitable Aid Board for the year shows a total of £3340. Primitive Methodist Church.—The Primitive Methodist Church Sunday School held its thirty-fifth anniversarylast Sunday, when the Rev. Mr Harding, from Greendale, was the preacher. There were good congregations at both services.

Pathe Pictures.—The programme to be shown at the Oddfellows' Hall . on Wednesday evening by Hayward's Pathe Picture Company is another new budget of interesting and amusing films. The list includes: "The Ferrjv man's Daughter," "The Schoolmaster," "How a Dog Saved the Flag," etc. Some of 'the comic films are exceedingly amusing.
