FARMERS' UNION.

MID-CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE. CONFERENCE ON MAY 28. The Mid-Canterbury Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union met this afternoon, the president (Mr Raymond Oakley) presiding. Several importers of farm tractors advised that the exhausts on their machines were directed upwards to minimise any danger of fires. Advice was received that the Dominion president (Mr }V. J. Poison, M.P.) would visit Ashburton on Tuesday, May 28. It was decided to hold the Executive's annual conference on that day. The conference will be opened in the morning and Mr Poison will speak in the afternoon.

The Dominion Executive forwarded the following result of the annual shooting match conducted by the Union:—.

Eketahuna branch 489 points, Masterton 488, Grevtown 484, Marton 478, Hampden 473, Hutt Valley 472, Alfredton 468, Okato 4-58, Wakanui 422.
