TOURNAMENTS IN BRITAIN. LONDON, April 28. The finals of the tennis tournament at Scarborough resulted as follows: Women's Singles—Miss Joan Hartigan (Australia) defeated Miss R. Smith 6-2, 6-2. Women's Doubles—Misses Hartigan and Lawrence defeated Miss Bullock and Mrs Fontres 6-4, 10-8. In the semi-final of the women's singles of the tournament at Birmingham Senorita Anita Lizana (Chilean) ' defeated Miss K. Stammers (England), 6-4, 6-1. Miss Hartigan is now singles champion of both North England hardcourts and grass'courts. The Chilean, Senorita Lizana, although only 20 years of age, and five feet in height, has a great reputation in Chile. English critics acclaim her and declare she resembles Mdlle.
