BOWLING.

MATCH AT RAKAIA. A team of six rinks, arranged by Mr H P. Dobbs, visited Rakaia on Saturday and .played a match against the Rakaia Bowling Club. The weather was fine, and the green was in great order, drawing much favourable comment •from the visitors. As is usual with games at Rakaia, the ladies turned out in strong force, and entertained the players at afternoon tea. During the

interval Mr D. Newman, president of the Rakaia Bowling Club, expressed pleasure at having another visit from Christchurch players, who were always welcome at Rakaia. The reply from the visitors emphasised the fact that bowlers in Christchurch welcomed the opportunity of a trip to Rakaia, where they were always so well received. Their spokesman presented a box of chocolates to Mrs Newman to show their appreciation of the part the ladies played in making the game a success.

Harrington (Opawa), 17-15. Lane was defeated by A. E. H. Christie (Cashmere), 21-14, in the third round. THE ALLENTON CLUB. The final of the Allenton Bowling Club's handicap doubles competition was played on Saturday afternoon, when R, W. Barr and J. Gowans (two lives) beat H. Silverwood and D. Horsburgh (one life), 32-19.
