SCOURED WOOL FOR BRITAIN IMPOST ON FOREIGN IMPORTS. EFFECT ON AUSTRALIA. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.50 p.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The wool 'trade has been advised that the British Government intends to impose a duty of 10 per cent, on foreign scoured wools. This is at the instance of British, fellmongery trade. The opinion is expressed 1 that the duty will have serious consequences in Australia. The British proposal is intended to restrict the importation of scoured wools from France, which in turn would reduce the quantity of sheepskins purchased from Australia by French buyers.
