WAIREKA DEFEATS METHVEN. RETAINS THE GALA CUP. The final of the Gala Cup croquet competition was played between Waireka and Methven at the Ashburton Domain yesterday, and resulted in a win for Waireka by five games to four. Details were (Waireka names first): Doubles—Mrs E. Robilliard and Miss Hardwick 26, Mrs Duff and Mrs Newman 6; Mesdames H. Samuels and J. M. Wilkie 20, Mesdames Fryer and Ayres 26; Mrs M. Macmillan and Miss M. Forsyth 24, Mesdames Robinson and Owen 26. Singles—Mrs E. Robilliard 26, Mrs Duff 21; Miss Hardwick 26, Mrs Newman 20; Mrs H. Samuels 26, Mrs Fryer 15; Mrs J. M. Wilkie 3, Mrs Ayers 26; Mrs M. Macmillan 19, Mrs Robinson 26; Miss Forsyth 26, Mrs Owen 22.
