The world’s expenditure on armaments in 1934 was £2,500,000,000--three times that in 1913 and double that in 1929—says an official ot th* German Institute for Business Research. While the world trade turnover decreased by 4 per cent., ® armament trade increased by .12 P er cerlt. despite the drop in costs of armaments. The official adds that former; customers strikingly developed then own production of. armaments. Russia, who took 57 per cent of aeroplanes from abroad in 1928, is n self-supplying, and quadrupled er output in four years. Many others, including South Africa and Australia, are seeking to provide their own needs.
