BURNED TO DEATH

TWO BOYS IN WORKSHOP. MELBOURNE'S TWO FIRES. WOOL STORE DESTROYED. (United Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE March 13. Two boys were burned to dteath in a fire following an explosion in a workshop at Lygon Deadlight Company's premises at East Brunswick. A quantity of cinema film ignited and exploded,'one boy being hurled 20 feet. The victims were identified as Charles Leylon, aged fourteen, and Leslie Smith, aged fourteen. The boys were cleaning pictures off old cinema films in order to recover silver and resell the films." Their bodies were charred almost beyond recognition. The cause of the explosion has not been determined.

A disastrous fire occurred at the premises of the Western Bacon and Meat Packing Company, Ltd., in Flinders Lane. Two hundred bales of wool, worth £2400, were destroyed, and a large quantity of dairy produce. The fire was checked before it reached 20,000 bales of wool.
