FANCIERS' SOCIETY.
SMALL GALA SUGGESTED. TO INCREASE REVENUE. A meeting of the general committee of the Ashburton Fanciers' Society was held last evening, Mr G. H. Nicoll presiding. Mr E. J. Da.mel thanked the members for their expression of sympathy. The New Zealand Kennel Club forwarded names of additional judges and a copy of its rules. The Mayfield Agricultural and Pastoral Association thanked the society for the use of its show pens and forwai'ded a donation of £1 Is. The secretary !(Mr G. V. Furhy) reported that he had acknowledged the donation from the association. The chairman reported on the recent visit paid by Mr 0. Cussens, who gave a very interesting and enjoyable lecture to members of the Society. The sub-committee appointed to consider means of raising additional revenue, reported that it was suggested to run a small gala in conjunction with two other local organisations. Suggestions for additional attractions at the Winter Shew were put forward and will be considered by the subcommittee Messrs W. H. Robinson, G. H. Nicoll, D. G. Smith, T. Rattray, and T. W. Round, were appointed canvassers for special prizes. The following schedule committeee was set up:—Messrs W. H. Rohinson, D. G. Smith, T. Rattray, W. Hockings, and K. Glenie. It was decided to recommend the following ladditional judges to the South Island Association: —Messrs T. Rattray (Barred Rocks), rD. G. Smith (Sussex), W. Hockings (White Leghorns), R. H. Loy (Minorcas and White Leghorns), P. A. Cornish (Sussex and White Leghorns), and E. Parkin (Brown Leghorns).
