CHARGES OF FRAUD.
. INSURANCE OF CAR. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, March 11. Collection of an insurance claim on a car which was actually insured after the damage was done was revealed in the Police Court when further charges of conspiracy were heard. Accused were Alfred Ernest Hay and Norman Henry Fraser, who pleaded guilty and were committed for sentence, and Alexander Frederick Murray, who pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial.
Evidence was given that until July last Fraser was employed as senior claims assessor by the N.I.M 17. Mu tual Insurance Company. The car ,vcs insured for £IOO on November 11, 1933, in the name of Frederick Murray, and on November 20 a claim was made in respect of damage alleged to have been done in a collision on November 19. Particulars were filled in by Fraser, who, as assessor, was assigned investigations. He duly reported, and also submitted four photographs oi the damaged car. The company paid out £62 9s 6d for refairs, which were done by a service station of which Hay was principal. Later it was proved mat the photographs were given to a film shop eight days before the alleged accodent occurred, and that the car involved was bought by Hay iu Tainanga in a damaged state.
