CRIPPLED CHILDREN.

LORD NUFFIELD’S GIFT. CHEQUE HANDED OVER, (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 10. Lord Nuffield left by the Mariposa last evening for Suva after five busy days in the Dominion. Before sailing lie handed to Mr C. J. B. Norwood a cheque for £60,000 comprising lUs two gifts for the benefit of; crippled childwren. The cheque was drawn on the Sydney (Martin Place) branch of the Bank of Australasia and dated March 9. This morning Lord Nuffield visited “St. Leonards' 7 and expressed appreciation of the house and grounds. He said Mr and Mrs W. 11. Wilson had given a wonderful lead to New Zealand, and lie hoped their gift would be an inspiration to the whole Dominion. Lord Nuffield lias been in New Zealand for only five days. He expressed regret at being unable to meet many people. He wished to meet the senders of, or to give all of, the hundreds of letters lie had received his personal attention.
