HARVEST FESTIVALS.

THE METHODIST GHURCH. Special harvest thanksgiving services were held at three Ashburton churches yesterday and all were attended by large congregations. The Rev. j. F. Jack, of Oamaru, was the preacher at the Baring Square Methodist Church. Mrs W. IT. Higgins took the solo part in one anthem, while Miss Nancy Bishop sang a solo, and took the solo part in an anthem in the evening. Mr W. Corbett also sang the solo of an anthem and Miss W. Slater, of Oamaru, contributed a solo. The trio part in the chorus “The Heavens Are Telling,” was sung by Mrs W. R. Featherston, Messrs W. Bishop and W. H. Higgins. In the afternoon Mr Jack gave an address to the combined Bible Classes. The fruit and produce will be sold at an auction to be held to-morrow evening. Baptist Church. Singing was also made a feature at the Baptist Church which was decorated with harvest produce. The Rev. L. P. Bryan gave addresses on the subjects, “Reapers Wanted,” and “What Shall the Harvest Be?” Special anthems were sung by the choir. Offerings from both, services and the proceeds of the harvest concert and sale this evening will he devoted to the church debt extinction fund. St. Andrew’s, Church. There was another attractive display of fruit and produce at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and this will be given to the Presbyterian orphanages in Christchurch. The Rev. G. Miller, of Christchurch, took the morning service and the Rev. R. S. Watson, was the preacher in the evening. Special anthems were sung by the choir and the duet, “O, Lovely Peace,” was sung by Misses I. Jamieson and C. Miller.
