THE ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION. KIA ORA JUNIORS UNBEATABLE. Although there are not many more series of matches in the Ashburton County Cricket Association’s competitions to he played, and the results of both grades were practically decided a week ago, considerable interest was taken in the fixtures oil Saturday afternoon. As a result of Saturday’s play, positions of the teams are as follow: Senior Grade. Points. Fairfield 33 Ashburton B .j./... 27 Ashburton A. 18 Rakaia 8 Methven 6 Junior Grade. Points. Kia Ora 57 Fairfield 43 Lauriston, 38 Technical 38 High School 25 Tinwald 24 Methven 16 Coldstream 10 In the senior, the position is still a little doubtfuj, it being possible for Ashburton B to draw with Fairfield if it wins its next two matches and Fairfield loses its two.. Kia Ora cannot be beaten in the junior. Batsmen with over 50 runs to their credit were:—Senior: W. O’Grady 62, G. Willis 55 not out, E. A. Osmers 53, and J. Varcoe 52 not out. Junior: L. Revelry 74 not out, J. Dillon 74, H. Jones 64, R. Geddes 58, W. Goodwin 57 retired, Don McKay 54, and R. W. Biggar 54. There were numerous good bowling figures put up on Saturday. Those outstanding were G. Willis five for 35, J. Vacoe four for 11, and P. Harper thre for 29 in the senior, and E. Stigley seven for 13, and Don McKay five for 22 among many in the junior. SENIOR GRADE. ASHBURTON B v. ASHBURTON A. Winning by 71 runs on the first innings, Ashburton B gained a three-point victory over Ashburton A in the match played on the Oval. The A team wont to the crease first, and compiled 1221 funs (I. M. Hamilton 38, M. Keeley 32, and F. P. Fogarty 25). The opposing side closed its innings for 193, for the loss of. nine wickets, J. Varcoe being the principal scorer with 52 runs not out. J. Pritchard made 46, B. McSherry 31, and J. B. Nicoll 22.

Bowling for the B team, J. Varcoe took four for 11, while for Ashburton A, Hamilton took one for seven, G Heasley one for 10, and P. Fear two for 22. Details were:—
