BOYS' ESCAPADE.
CAR DRIVEN FROM AUCKLAND. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 7. A precocious escapade hy two Auckland schoolboys, aged only 12 and 11 years, was revealed after a widespread and successful search by the police for a motor-car which was removed from the city. The vehicle Avas recovered by the Huntly police, who also detained the boys. The car, a small English sedan model, had been parked in Khyber iPass Road by its owner on Wednesday evening. The owner found that the vehicle had l)een removed, and he quickly notified his loss to the police. Later in the evening the police received reports that two boys were absent from their homes; .but'their disappearance was iiot then connected with the missing car. No report of the car was received until early this morning, when Constable Walton, of Huntly, found it abandoned by the roadside. Further searching led to the detention of two boys avlio were walking southward along the main road. The boys were little fatigued, although they showed very natural hunger. From the account given to the police the boys had been intent on travelling to visit some friends in the Waikato district, a considerable distance beyond Hamilton.
