Mr John Brown, of Ashburton, is in Wellington attending a meeting of the Rural Intermediate Credit Board. Mr F. C. Brown (chief poultry instructor to the Department of Agriculture) will retire at the end of April, after about 30. years' service with the Department (says a press Association telegram from Wellington). Mrs W. T. Kelly, who has been actively associated with the Methodist Parsonage Guild during her residence in Ashburton, was entertained by members yesterday afternoon and presented by Mrs G. B. Hinton with a silver yase on their behalf in view of her departure for Invercargill. An Ashburton lad, Peter E. Fitzgerald, a son of Mr and Mrs David Fitzgerald, will leave next Wednesday evening to board the Wanganella at Wellington for Sydney, where he will join the Christian Brothers' Juniorate at Strathfield. He was formerly a pupil of St. Joseph's Convent, Ashburton, and of St. Kevin's College, Oamaru.
