THE ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION. MATCHES R E-ARRANGED. A special meeting of the Ashburton County Cricket Association’s management committee was held last evening, the president (Mr F. Pritchard) presiding. Advice was received from the Ashburton Borough Council that the“f)val would not be available for matches on March 2, as the Kaiapoi Freezing Works picnic would be held in the Domain on that day. It was decided to re-arrange the senior matches set down for March 2, as follows: —Ashburton B v. Methven, at Methven (this is a postponed fixture, having been originally drawn for January 5) ; Methven v. Rakaia* postponed; Fairfield v. Ashburton B, postponed. The Canterbury Association wrote asking if Ashburton could play a Canterbury team on March 18. It was agreed that this was impossible for the date had been reserved for the West Coast representative match for the minor Association’s competition. The secretary (Mr S. M. Cassidy) was instructed to point out to the Canterbury Association that it was particularly hard for players to take part in mid-week matches, but it was hoped a Saturday fixture could he arranged Before the end of the season. SYDNEY, February 15. The concluding matches in the Sheffield Shield series have begun. At Brisbane, New South Wales, in their first innings, made 233 runs (Fingleton 74, Chipperfield 63, Marks 66). Gilbert took six for 64 and Oxenham two for 46. Queensland have lost three for 94 (Sides not out 33, Levy not out 27) ; At Adelaide, South Australia’s first innings realised 200 runs (Badcock 47, Lonergan 45, Waite 35, Lee 46).
