1 THICK DRIZZLE CONTINUES. ANOTHER 13 POINTS RECORDED. The misty rain of the past few: day? is continuing, and some valuable moisture is falling over most parts of the County. Farmers in Ashburton to-day were very pleased with the prospects. The cjrizzle fell in showers overnight in the town, arid clouds of a thick mist lowered over the Borough at intervals to-day. It blew in from the south-east, and the wind was colder than for some time. Indications from most areas are the rain is general, but travellers from Christchurch this morning stated, that the weather was fine north of Fair ton. Thirteen points of rain fell up to 9 o’clock this morning, making 30 points since the weather broke. The barometric, pressure at 9 a.m. was 29.88 inches, and 1 extremes of shade temperature yesterday and last night were 64.8 degrees and 57.6 degrees.. TO-DAY’S FORECAST (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference : Pressure is rather low across the north' Tasman Sea. and northern New Zealand, and also to the east, while m the south it is relatively high. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from 'Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate to fresh southerly winds, decreasing in Canterbury, and tending north-easterly to-morrow*, Weather cloudy to overcast, with intermittent misty rain, more especially on the coast; later isolated rains still probable inland. Seas moderate.
